Java can run applications developed using the java programming language and set of development tools. The JVM is a crucial component of the Java platform.
The availability of JVMs on many types of hardware and software platforms enables Java to function both as middleware and a platform in its own right. Hence the expression 'Write once, run anywhere.' Starting with J2SE 5.0, changes to the JVM specification have been developed under the Java Community Process as JSR 924. As of 2006, changes to specification to support changes proposed to the class file format (JSR 202) are being done as a maintenance release of JSR 924. The specification for the JVM is published in book form, known as 'blue book'.

Sorry to jump in on someone elses Topic, but i have a problem with installing Java as a package (both 1.4.202, and 1.4.206) and its exactly the same problem. I create the package using WinInstallLE using hte usual Discovery method. When i deploy it in the AD it installs without any errors. However, when a user logs in (either standard user or an admin), the Tickbox in the setup for Java Runtime that associates it with a Browser (in our case IE) is not ticked, even though it was ticked when i did the Discovery.
Java 1.4.0 Download
So Java installs but will not work with our Browser without the user ticking this tick box (which they can not as they can't get to the control pannel due to the group policy). Anyone have any surgestions? (IE is IE 6, Windows is XP Pro with SP1) Thanks in advance Andy. I noticed a problem with the msi-file from the 1.4.606 version. If I deploy it with AD, It works great if I deploy it 'per machine' or to 'per users' with admin rights.
If I try to deploy it to users with only user-rights, it hangs. What I get is in the event viewer (application): Product: Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2.06 - Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.

I have 1.4.102 installed in my computer. When I click on the Java Plugin icon in the Control Panel and click on update tab and click on GET JAVA UPDATE button, I am taken to a download page for 1.4.105.
Also, in my Add or Remove Programs, I see TWO Java Runtime Environments SE: v.1.4.102 v.1.4.104 Is it okay to delete one of these versions? I remember before I had like four or five of the Java Runtime Environments in my Add or Remove Programs, and I removed older versions.
Is it recommended that I skip this upgrade and go directly to 1.4.202? Thanks in advance. Said by: I think the logical thing to do is get 1.4.202 The in-program update may be pointing to a server that has not yet had the newest 1.4.202 version uploaded to it yet, so we may just need to wait another day or two.
Or get that version manually. I assume that Sun pulled all the 1.4.201 copies from all its servers, which may then have left 1.4.105 temporarily as the 'latest' version, as far as the in-program updater knows.
V1.4.2 has been out for over a month. I know some companies are slow in posting new updates on updaters. I can't seem to update, and just realized I am still on SE v1.4.1 yet. Acronis true image bootable disk. Could the confusion with the update have anything to do with MS no longer supporting VM? Note: Windows XP SP1a is almost identical to Windows XP SP1 except that the Microsoft virtual machine (VM) is removed in SP1a. Technical Changes: Windows XP SP1a does not include or install the Microsoft VM, which provides support for running Java applets. » OK, now I am doubly confused.
Here it seems MS is supporting java again: » The last SP1a update did not support VM, which was the only change from SP1, which I was forced to download on a clean install (SP1 is no longer available). Said by: DP, You won't believe this - I just clicked the url I posted above, and wouldn't you know it, the file is downloading! I uninstalled all java last night, (w/ the reg keys,) so this will be a fresh. EDIT: I should not be doing this when I have to leave the house in two minutes! (wrong one, right? ) yeah, me thinks it might be the wrong one.
Gore ultimate soldier tv easter egg. Worth a shot if it's under $5 Fortunately, I purchased Gore as part of a lot. Snipe that Health Pack, just before your opponent tries to grab it, and watch as both are gibbed to oblivion in the resulting explosion. The gameplay was actually quite easy to pick up. Gore boasts highly interactive environments in which gas tanks, weapons, and even health and stamina power-ups can be destroyed, also adding tactical possibilities.
